May Favourites

So I have a few Make-up favourite's from last month I would like to share with you -

Mac lip products - I love the vanilla scent of Mac's lip products, a few of my favourites at the moment are;

Pro Longwear lipstick in Overtime, Lovely pink colour and lasts without making your lips dry or cracking. The colour is very similar to Mac lipstick creme cup but it lasts longer on the lips and has more of a semi matte finish.

Vegas Volt lipstick, Fab colour for the summer and on trend too.

Lip conditioners, I like these so much Ive bought all three colours. Perfect for my lips as they tend to get dry if I keep wearing lipsticks. Love all three colours, I mixed them with lipstick too, to give a glossy finish. They also do a clear one.

Urban decay - Naked Pallet, the colours in this pallet are perfect. They can be used to create a natural look to a smokey eye so versatile and blend well. A great buy, just wish there were a few more matte shades in the pallet.

Collection 2000 - Collagen Curl Mascara in Black. I love this mascara, builds much needed volume in my lashes so easily and stays put throughout the day. The brush is great for helping to lift the lashes too.

Benefit - Dallas was always a favorite of mine when I worked on Benefit. I have rediscovered in in the past month and have been using it. Its a great colour for the summer, looks lovely with a tan.
The one thing about the benefit boxed powders I dislike is the packaging, the boxes look so worn after a few months (as you can see from the photo) but the products inside are fab.

Brush Guards

I purchased my first set of assorted Brush Guards from the Crown Brush stand at The IMATs In London in January. After using them for the first time I realised they are amazing! I put them on the brushes after I have washed them, then let the brushes dry over a window ledge with the guard on. When there dry and I take the guard off, my brushes are restored back to there original shape, there like new. I would recommend brush guards to all make-up artists, keeps your brushes in shape which can be very hard with the constant cleaning of them. They can also be used when traveling to protect your brushes. Every makeup artist should have them in their kit.

Nvey Eco

Most of you that know me will know I have very sensitive skin. So I recently decided to try Organic make-up. I did some research on the net and there were a few organic brands but I decided to try out Nvey Eco (http://www.nveymakeup.com/). The brand didn't have many reviews but it seem to look like the most advanced organic make-up, the packaging, colours and price seem to be very similar to the high end brands.

I ordered my first batch of the make-up off a supplier of Wikaniko an organic company (http://www.wewilleco.me.uk/). I ordered deluxe creme foundation in 870, natural bronzer powder, powder blush in 953, eye pallet in No1 and lipstick in 365. When it came I was really impressed with the packaging.

Review of the products-

The foundation does take a lot of blending with a brush and is a bit thick but I like the texture, it covers well. I bought 870 and was finding it a bit dark, so I order 877 from The Natural Skin Company (http://www.thenaturalskincarecompany.co.uk/) and I blended the two together to make the perfect colour. I can also use the lighter shade as a concealer. The one thing that may put people off is the smell, its not perfumed but smells a bit plastic but it doesn't bother me. The product stays put all day on my skin as long as powdered after application.

The bronzer is a bit to dark for me at the moment as I haven't got a tan but it went on well and is a nice red brown tone rather than orange! I will use this product more in the summer.

The Blusher in 953 is a really warm colour, I really like this colour and don't have anything else similar to it. I find I do have to apply more than other blushers for the colour to show. I will also be purchasing the blush 955 which is a more pink tone, its meant to be similar to 'well dressed' by MAC.

The Eye Pallet in No 1, The colours in the pallet have really good pay off. The colour are unusual which I like, some of the colours are harder to blend than others but overall I really like them.

The lipstick in 365 , I love this shade. Again its an unusual colour and smells similar to the foundation. The texture is more of a matte and the colour pay off is good.

Overall I'm impressed with this range, I think some of the products could rival the well known brands in my kit. I didn't have any reactions to the products but my skin irritations are still there but hasn't made them worse. In a way it makes me feel better that I'm not putting loads of chemicals on my skin daily.

Have you tried Nvey or other Organic Make-up? Let me know what you think.

Airbrushing Make-up Video

Airbrush makeup is the way forward, makeup is sprayed on through an air compressor as a fine mist of colour that gently covers the skin, giving the appearance of a flawless complexion. Spraying microdots of makeup that rest on the surface of the face looks more natural than traditional makeup because it is not rubbed into the skin and does not exaggerate the pores. This process allows the Airbrush makeup to conceal better while enabling your skin to breathe. This technique has been used in films, theatre, special effects and high end photography. Airbrush make-up is suitable for people of all ages and every skin condition. Airbrush make-up is a great way to achieve a lightweight, flawless foundation that can be blended to match your skin tone and look completely natural. Airbrush make-up will cover many skin imperfections including tattoos, scaring and stretch marks. If it’s your wedding day, or a special occasion, the silicon based smudge proof and waterproof formula ensures you can feel confident that your make-up will last all day and night. I offer airbrush make-up to all my clients, airbrushing make-up is the best possible make-up service around.

Naming the Products…………

So in February of this year the FAB Set went up to the Collection 2000 head office to name the new Colour Intense Solo Eye Shadows. A few months ago I received the eye shadows that we have named! I have tested the eye shadows on recent photoshoots and I love how strong the pigments are and they are so easy to blend. They’re in the shops now so go and check the Colour Intense Solo Eye Shadow out.
