Winter 2011 Beauty trends

Contoured cheeks, coloured smokey eyes, and red hot lips are what you have to look forward to this season. It’s time to update your make-up bag and bring it up to date with this seasons must have make-up looks.

Healthy looking skin is a must this season as seen at Balmain show, the models there looked as if they had just had a facial. To create the same look use a primer underneath you foundation to create that healthy glow, try MAC Strobe cream £21.50. This can also be used by mixing with your foundation then applying it with a brush to give a flawless complexion. Try Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation £9.99 this is packed with vitamins and minerals to nourish you skin and make it glow from within.

Contoured cheeks were created on the models for Michael Kors, Barbara Bui and Dolce & Gabbana shows. It doesn’t matter if you’re not blessed with supermodel cheek bones, the secret is to use a matte powder to create the look. Sleek MakeUp Face Contour kit, £6.50 is a must have to achieve this look. Using the dark matte colour under your cheekbones and use the highlighter on top, you will achieve razor sharp features.

Coloured smokey eyes were all over the catwalk seen on Philip Lim, Zac Posen and Felipe Oliveira Baptista from violet, blue to emerald colours. Navy is the new black so try updating your smokey eye this season by using MAC Eyeshadow Deep Truth £12, a vibrant deep blue tone. Try cream eyeshadow this season to create a perfect matte or shimmery look using Nars Duo Cream Eyeshadow in Burn it Blue £23.50 use the shimmery colour in the duo to highlight the eyes in the inner corner. By using a cream eyeshadow then setting this with a powder eyeshadow this will make the colour more vibrant, which is key to this look.

Sixties make-up influences were seen throughout the catwalk on Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana and John Richmond. From cakey nude lips, black smokey winged out eye make-up and bambi looking lashes. Graphic sixties influenced eyes were created using a black liner on models on Louis Vuitton and Kinder Aggugini shows. The models from the Anna Sui show were treated to a  twiggy make-up look with a twist. The effect this created on the eyes was dramatic but yet simple only using a black/brown liner and no shadow. Getting a good gel eyeliner will help you achieve defined sixties style eyes, MAC fuildline in Blacktrack, £13.50 is the perfect product to help you achieve this. To create a matte nude lip for this look try Collection 2000 they have just bought out the perfect product, Cream Puff Lip Cream in Powder puff £2.99 gives the lips a hint of a velvet matte colour perfect sixties looking lips.

Red lips are back this season, the look was seen on the catwalks of Diane von Frutenburg, Giles and Ralph Lauren to name a few. From pillar box red to Flame red and every shade between, anything goes. A great colour for this look is MAC lipstick in Cockney £13.50. A lip liner is a must when using a strong colour on the lips, it will help you to achieve a defined neat edge, which is important with this look. Vampy berry toned lips were used on the John Rocha catwalk this gave more of a  grunge make-up look paired with no eye make-up and contoured cheeks. A great way to wear a stronger lip colour if you are not sure or haven’t tried this before is to tone down the eye make-up and make it all about your lips. Tom Ford’s Lipstick in Bruised Plum £36, is a fantastic colour and the packaging is to die for.

Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model

Last month I worked with Tanya Mihailovic from Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model. She's a lovely girl and a great model.

Here are some photo's from the shoot-

Photographer: Jennie Sherratt
Stylist: Flock Lnd

I created the natural radiant look on Tanya by using Mac face and Body foundation. I used a cream blush and highlighter stick from the Topshop Make up line. Around the eyes I used Urban Decay eyeliner pencil in Whiskey.

For this look I contoured the eyes with a matte brown eyeshadow. I used a Collection 2000 lipstick in Cherry Bomb to make the lips pop.
