The Wedding Industry Awards 2014 Event

I was very lucky to attend The Wedding Industry Awards 2014 last night. It was held at the Bloomsbury ballroom in London, beautiful location.

I am delighted to announce that I was awarded a highly commended achievement! Thank you so much to all my brides who took the time to vote for me.

Here's a few photos from the awards and a video of me collecting my award. I had an amazing time with all my industry friends.

I am so grateful to of been part of the awards the last three years. Its now a tradition of mine to read my voters comments on the train ride home from London. A big thanks to all of the brides who voted, you are the reason I do what I do. Its a great honour to be picked to be part of your wedding morning, I've enjoyed each and everyone of the weddings I've been part of in the last year.

Here are a few of the comment from the voting forms-

Chloe is professional and friendly. Wow what an amazing make up artist, Very talented!
From my first enquiry to the day of my Wedding Chloe’s communication was great. A bride needs an organised and stress free service and Chloe provided this.

On the morning of my BIG day, I awoke with BIG zits with heads on them on my face! The transformation Chloe produced was sheer genius. My skin looked flawless, eyes big even though I’d had little sleep and I felt and looked beautiful. Chloe is one of the best in the industry. I highly recommend!

Chloe made my day even more perfect than it already was. She was so calm, caring and thoughtful on the day of the wedding and made me feel like the bride I had always dreamed of being. She also gave my mum a mini make over and for a mum who never wears make up she was thrilled with the finished look.

I can not fault my wedding make up by Chloe. It was perfect for my special day and was everything I asked for and more. I had lots of compliments from my friends and family how beautiful my make up was, this made me feel confident and special. Chloe gave me great make up tips too.

On first phone call with Chloe she made it really easy for me to talk to her about what was best for me on the day. I was unsure as what make up to have as I don’t wear make up normally, Chloe gave me lots of options. I couldn’t fault her she was perfect :)

Chloe was excellent at understanding and applying the very specifics of my makeup requests. She is highly organised, professional & extremely skilled. She was very patient listening to my needs and very helpful giving her professional advice. I recommend Chloe to any bride to be who is as fussy as I am
Chloe was lovely, and went the extra mile recommending tips for everyday make up. She understood the request to ’look a better version of me’. Makeup stayed all day without any worries. I’d definitely recommend her to any bride

From the initial contact I made with Chloe to the wedding day it’s self she has been 100% there for the bridal party and myself. She has made the whole process easy, fun and well worth every penny. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough......to anyone who will listen!

I was really pleased with my make up trial before my wedding. The colours were perfect and the make up lasted and did not go shiny. Chloe is very professional, she really made me feel relaxed on the day of the wedding. My make up was amazing and stayed perfect all day."

Booked Chloe through web browsing, so pleased I came across her being a more mature bride, I wanted to look as good as possible for my age, she really did to a good job with my makeup. and quite good value for money, Chloe was also very pleasant, she made my day

I booked Chloe because she listened to what I wanted which was a natural look but at the same time different too and more special than my everyday makeup. Chloe made the whole process very easy by contacting me and suggesting timings for my wedding day.

Chloe’s website really showed off her portfolio well, I knew she was just what I wanted and after contacting her I knew I’d made the right choice. Chloe is extremely professional and friendly and really put me at ease. I couldn’t recommend her enough.

Her knowledge of the make up industry was excellent Her friendly advise and approach to myself and my maids was also excellent. She wanted to know what look I wanted from the outset and explained what she was doing in every step of the make up process, she state that she wanted me to give my comments at each step and if there was anything I didn’t like then this would be changed . All of the above made me decide to book Chloe straight after the trial, I had no hesitation in doing so

When I attended the trial, I could tell Chloe had a vast amount of experience and knowledge about the industry. She shared photos, explored options with me, whilst checking and consulting with me at each to ensure I was happy with the look. This enable me to feel comfortable to say I was happy or could we tweak something. I also felt I could trust her - to be on time and not let me down on such an important day - overall I was thrilled and couldn’t recommend her more!

Thank you so much to all The Wedding Industry Awards team for there effort, I had an amazing night. I am already looking forward to next year! Congratulations to all the regional & national winners.

Best Wedding Make-up Artist West Midlands - TWIA

I'm so pleased to announce that I have done it again and won 'Best Make-up Artist' in the West Midlands at The Wedding Industry Awards 2013!

I entered these awards as they are the only awards of there type in the Industry where you are voted for by solely the wedding clients that Ive had in the past year.

This wouldn't of been possible without all the lovely brides Ive worked with in the last year voting for me, so thank you to all of them who took the time out to vote. The final of the awards is in London in January at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, Looks like an amazing venue! I will let you know how I get on with the National award, its tough competitions but Im so pleased to of got to this stage again.

Underwater Photohoot

So today I did makeup for an underwater shoot with the lovely photographer Tamara Peel.

This shoot has been planned for a while so I've been excited for ages planning what I was going to do. I really had to think about the makeup I used in the shoot as the models would be spending alot of time in the water. We had three models on the shoot.

We were really inspired by Zena Holloway an underwater photographer.

Her works amazing, check it out www.zenaholloway.com

Here is a moodboard I made for the shoot-

I decided I wanted to use the fab paperself lashes as I've wanted to use them from a while.

I also found this great product called face lace, this has been created by the very talented makeup artist Phyllis Cohen.
I would use this product again there's so many amazing designs and it was easy to apply.

We had dresses and nails designed for the models to suit the shoot.

Airbrush Make-up.....

For over two years I have been using the Airbrushing foundation technique on my clients for weddings and special occasions as I believe it gets the best finish and last 12 hours +

I decided a month ago to make a film that shows how airbrushing works as I think sometimes the words airbrushing can put clients off as they think of airbrushing in magazines.

The film below explains all about the benefits of having airbrush make-up.

If you would like to read more about airbrushing please see my post for Weddingspot.co.uk

Rock my wedding

A few months ago I got to work with the lovely people from Rock my wedding. I feel very luck to have work with these guys as I have been following there lovely blog for a while. I got to do the make-up for the 'Real Brides' Photoshoot, the real brides were lovely (see photo below & RMW for a full run down on them).
The theme for the shoot was 'Stepford Wives'. A few days before the shoot I received this lovely concept email from Charlotte at RMW. I instantly fell in love with the theme and all the ideas and couldn’t wait for the shoot. Here's the beauty Idea's below-
Check out the full concept for the shoot on RMW blog.

Here's some photos from the shoot and abit about the make-up from me.
Check out all the photos on the RMW blog.

Make-Up Artist Chloe McCall: With Jo (above) we wanted to create a dramatic smokey eye with nude pink lips – this is a very popular bridal look. To create flawless skin Mac Studio fix fluid mix with Mac face and body foundation was used mainly down the centre of the face and blended outwards. Because the look was all about Jo’s eyes I didn’t want to go too heavy with the blush colour, so Mac blusher in Melba was added to the cheek bones.

Jo has amazing lashes so I just added half lashes to the outer part of the eye. I created the grey eye by using Urban Decay Naked 2 pallet, I used verve all over the eye lid and brow bone then used pistol on the lid and mixed in a hint of Blackout and blended. Gel liner by Mac in Blacktrack was used to line the eyes.
I used Unlimited from the Pro longwear range by Mac on Jo’s Lips. I lined the lips first using No7 lip liner in Nude, this is a great colour and goes with almost everyone’s lip tone.

Make-up Artist Chloe McCall: Amanda (above)- Matte lips are on trend this season so using Revlon Matte lipsticks in pink about it and pink pout (mixed) I created Amanda’s pink lips, I wanted a soft matte pink so this is why I mixed the lipsticks. If you can’t find the colour you’re looking for, there is nothing wrong with creating your own lipstick colour by mixing shades together. My tip is to stay within the same brand and texture of lipstick.

I created a strong eye look on Amanda using liner and lashes. I used eyeshadows from Urban Decay in Toasted and Hustle, these are from the naked pallet, a great bridal eyeshadow pallet. It’s always important to fill the brows in when making a statement on the eyes, I did this by using a product called browzing from Benefit which is a powder and a wax, created for filling in the brows so they still look natural. Make sure you use a hard angle brush when using this product to get the best results.

Make-up Artist Chloe McCall: Below on Shirley- Mac paint pot in bare study was used as a base all over the eye then Estee Lauder French vanilla and taupe single eyeshadows were used over the top. Estee lauder gel liner in “Stay coffee” was used on the top of the lash line and half way on the underneath lash line. By doing this with the liner it creates an open eye effect. Individual lashes were used to give volume.

Doublewear lip liner in rose by Estee Lauder was used to line the outline of the lips then Doublewear rose lipstick used over the top.
The Doublewear range by Estee Lauder is great for wedding make-up as everything stays put, they do foundation, mascara, eye products and lip products in this range.

Chloe McCall Make-up Artist: For Celine’s (top photo) base Mac studio fix fluid was mixed with Mac face and body to create flawless skin. On the cheeks Mac Mineralize dark mixed with Estee Lauder Illuminating powder.

On the eye “sin” was used as a base then sidecar, smog, darkhorse and toasted eyeshadows from Urban decay naked pallet were blended to create the smokey brown eye. Smashbox gel eyeliner in black was used to line the eyes and give definition. Natural looking eyelure lashes were used to give some volume to the lashes.
We wanted Celine’s lips to be Natural but still have some colour so Mac pro longwear lipstick in “Till Tomorrow” was used, this range of lipsticks from Mac are perfect for your wedding day as they are long lasting but don’t dry out your lips.

I love to watch films from behind the scenes of shoots I’ve been on and this one doesn’t disappoint. Check out the behind the scene from the shoot. Shot by the brilliant Frances from Reel Love Films.

Thanks to Danielle Slater for assisting me for the shoot, she did an amazing job.
