Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation

I have now been using this foundation for around one and a half months and I absolutely love it!!!!!

What Illamasqua say about the product -
''Inspired by the cult Asian market Beauty Balm creams, Skin Base Foundation is a brand new, refined formula unlike anything on the UK market. Easily blendable, it effortlessly creates a perfect complexion, and like the entire Illamasqua foundation range, is undetectable in a professional HD environment. Suitable for all skin types, it smoothes, softens and conditions your skin whilst providing natural, buildable coverage.''

David Horne, Illamasqua Director of Product Development -

"Skin Base is an innovative formula that doesn't require any outlandish marketing claims. In my 20 years experience as a professional make-up artist, l have tried some fantastic foundation innovations, but nothing compares to Skin Base's winning texture and professional finish - it will leave you staring at your immaculate skin in wonderment."

The coverage is medium and very buildable, it builds really easily too. I use a kabuki brush to buff the foundation in, this gives it a lovely dewy looking airbrush finish. It doesn't feel heavy at all on the skin and it smells very clean, similar smell to other illamasqua products. The foundation retails at £25, which is around the mark for a high end foundation, I do think the foundation will last me over two months, I have been using it for a month and a half and it still doesn't feel empty yet.

As always with Illamasqua the shade range is amazing, going from 1 to 18 it covers nearly every shade. They have even done a helpful shade comparison chart with other brands, so if your ordering it off the Internet you can see which shade is most like your MAC, Bobbi Brown, Nars or YSL foundation. With Beauty Balms set to storm the market this year, I think we will see many brands creating them. Beauty Balm's first became popular in Asia and have grown in popularity since. In most of the creams include SPF and whitening ingredients whereas the Illamasqua version doesn't contain either ingredient.
Garnier has created the first high street BB cream, retailing at £9.99 and claiming to 'immediately perfected skin with even tone and boosted glow. Blurs imperfections and smoothes fine lines. SPF15 protection and 24hr hydration.' I haven't tried this one yet but will be purchasing it this week, I cant wait to try this product.
